On behalf of The Chester County Hospital Foundation, we would like to thank all of our current donors for their generosity and support. Here are some of their stories.

Joe and Betty Strode

When drafting their wills Joe and Betty Strode wanted to include the Hospital because of its importance in their lives. They did this for many reasons, but, first and foremost, they wanted to continue their family tradition of service and inspire their children and grandchildren with an attitude of concern and generosity. Such gifts also perpetuate annual support and help to improve health care for future generations.

Samuel P. Cloud

While no one knew until recently, Samuel P. Cloud, who died in 1972, planned for the long-term for the Hospital. A stalwart in his community, Mr. Cloud served for thirty years as President of what is now First National Bank of Chester County. He designated a special person in his life to receive a life income from a trust.

Thirty years later, in 2001, the Hospital gratefully received news that the income beneficiary had died and that it was about to receive the principal of Mr. Cloud’s trust. Thanks to Mr. Cloud’s foresight and the good management by the trust’s trustees, the Hospital received more than $2 million! His plan for the Hospital’s future couldn’t have been better timed, with this increasing urgency to have accessible advanced health care technology near the citizens of Chester County.

Agatha Hellenthal

Agatha Hellenthal’s response to the Hospital’s request for financial help was based on her experience and interest. Since moving to West Chester in 1950, expansion of hospital facilities is obvious. New programs, services, and more staff bring new medical specialties to the Hospital.

In answering the appeal for funds, she chose to include a gift in her Will. Such support will support future programs, educational outreach, clinics for low-income mothers, etc – all essential to the health care infrastructure here and to ensuring this community asset provides better than good care.
